Education.com is seeking a fanatical PHP developer to design & develop new functionality for deployment on our public web site, www.education.com. The ideal candidate for this position has five or more years hands-on experience designing and developing advanced PHP functionality and three or more years with mysql. Technology must not be an impediment for the person in this position; devising and designing the correct solutions are as important as flawless implementation. Education.com is a PHP5-based site built on a custom framework similar to Drupal; the person filling this position must be able to use PHP as second nature and focus on the more important aspects of creative construction of new capabilities. Basically, we're looking for a PHP web developer fanatic who thrives, as we do, on creating the best web sites and seeing them come to life, using the best of the latest technology.

Technologies and products used at education.com include PHP5, mysql 5, Redhat Enterprise Linux, Apache 2, Fedora 10, mootools, Google search, eclipse. Developers use high-end workstations with multiple monitors running Linux or Windows (by personal choice). The physical environment is generous and the location is about 50 paces from a CalTrain station.
Specific Responsibilities
- With the development team, design of new functionality based on a PHP and MySQL foundation.
- Evaluation of multiple approaches to solutions, making firm recommendations on engineering alternatives.
- Fanatical development of the new functionality, carrying it through QA, alpha, and release
- Keeping education.com's public site compelling, informative, responsive, and profitable
Background and Skills Needed
- High energy, open minded, passionate, team-oriented, with a strong sense of what is good and what works.
- Strong in the following areas:
- PHP5 web development on high-level frameworks.
- Development methodology and practice for large/live public web sites.
- Database design and programming.
- Front-end technologies: JavaScrpt, CSS, implementing AJAX and using mootools and related packages
- Three or more years of key roles for PHP-based public web sites.
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
- A passion for the domain, education, is a major plus.
- A portfolio or a personal PHP-based website as a demonstration of capability is a major benefit.

Ad Operations Specialist
Location: Redwood City, CAEducation.com is seeking a motivated ad operations person to join our fast growing company. In this position you will lead cross-departmental teams to build out unique new advertising products for our clients. You will be engaged in the complete online advertising lifecycle – from helping to build proposals, to trafficking campaigns and working with Finance to reconcile billing. This opportunity is great for someone who has been in ad trafficking for a couple of years but has not yet had the opportunity to build the ancillary skills and experience necessary to move on to an ad ops manager role. You will be mentored and trained to understand a complete range of publisher operations and how the different pieces fit together into a cohesive whole.
Responsibilities:
- Implement interactive advertising campaigns using DoubleClick DFP ad management platform, including complex 3rd party rich media
- Project manage custom advertising campaigns cross-departmentally
- Create, test and implement tags across new placements; including tracking and targeting specifications
- Manage DFP platform to ensure campaign delivery, performance and advertiser goals are being fulfilled as scheduled
- Requesting, receiving, testing, posting, and confirming all materials from outside vendors and internal departments
- Field related questions from clients/agencies/internal and assist in resolving problems and troubleshooting errors
- Work closely with sales force to understand client needs
- Construct and deliver PowerPoint presentations
- Update inventory reports and communicate availability to sales departments.
- Produce reports for executive level decision support
Requirements:
- Minimum two years ad operations experience
- Working knowledge of rich media ad serving technologies
- Knowledge of DoubleClick DFP
- Strong analytical, decision-making and problem solving skills and abilities
- Dependable, motivated and flexible self-starter; adaptive to change and tight deadlines
- Knowledge of ad servers and online advertising
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Comprehensive understanding of campaign success metrics: CPM, CPC, conversions
- Able to understand business processes and work in a team environment
- Positive and ambitious attitude
- Salesforce.com admin experience a plus

Description
The Product Manager will own product requirements and execution of consumer facing features. The role will also include the management and execution of new and on-going projects. You will report directly to the VP of Marketing, and will be a key hire for the product and marketing team.
