Looking for a way to stay cool in the pool? Check out Elbow Tag, a simple and easy twist on the classic game tag. In this game, players partner up and join elbows as a chaser swims around them trying to tag a runner whose only way to safety is to hook elbows with one of the partnering teams! You don't need anything except for a pool and some willing kids to play this game, and it's the perfect pool game for a hot summer day and a large party of kids.

What You Need:

  • A pool
  • At least four kids in said pool (six preferred)

How to Play:

  1. Get all the players into the water.
  2. Designate one player to be the 'chaser' and one to be the 'runner'.
  3. The remaining players partner up and link elbows with their partner to form a pair.
  4. The game starts when the chaser tries to tag the runner. The runner may seek safety by hooking his elbow to the elbow of someone in a pair.
  5. If a paired player has her elbow hooked by the runner, the other member of the pair immediately becomes the new runner. That's why the paired players should try to avoid the runner by moving around the pool.
  6. When a chaser tags a runner, the two reverse roles for a new round of play.
