Want a warm snowy activity that still lets you play with snow? Coffee filter snowflakes are an easy winter craft and a good way to involve children of all ages in holiday decorating. Your child can get as creative as she wants with her scissors, and open up a unique snowflake each time. Make an entire blizzard!
What You Need:
- Coffee filters
- Scissors
What You Do:
- Have your child flatten a coffee filter on a hard surface to work out the wrinkles a little bit.
- Show her how to fold the filter in half for a half-moon shape, then in half two more times for a wedge. This is the perfect time to remind her about fractions.
- Now she can cut triangles, circles, or other shapes along the top and creases.
- Unfold the filter, revealing your snowflake.
Connect several snowflakes together into a garland!
