Bring math and art together in this fun Christmas craft. You and your child can countdown to Christmas by making a Santa beard and adding a cotton ball representing each day until the 25th!
What You Need:
- Construction paper (white and red)
- Pencil
- 25 cotton balls
- White glue
- Markers
What You Do:
- Before you can countdown on Santa’s beard, you have to make a Santa face! Cut out a circle for a Santa face, a red triangle for a Santa hat and a big white beard out of white paper. The beard should be large enough to fit 25 quarter-sized numbers.
- Glue the beard and the hat onto the Santa face. Encourage your child to use the markers to draw Santa’s eyes, nose and mouth.
- On Santa’s beard, write out the numbers 1-25. Write the numbers about the size of a quarter so they will be the perfect fit for a cotton ball to cover up later.
Now you are ready to countdown to Christmas! Hang the Santa face somewhere your child will see it every day. Each day your child will glue a cotton ball over the day, filling Santa’s beard in day by day. When Santa’s beard is full and all the numbers are covered, it’s Christmas day!
