Does your child have the luck of the Irish? Challenge her to wordsmith her way to victory with this puzzle! She'll love this fun family contest to see who can find the most words in the letters of "Saint Patrick's Day." This entertaining vocabulary builder stretches her ability to think outside the box to rearrange and connect strings of letters.

What You Need:

  • Paper
  • Pen
  • Dictionary
  • Timer

What You Do:

  1. Give each player a piece of paper and a pen.
  2. Have each player try to find as many words as possible using any combination of letters in the words, “Saint Patrick’s Day.”
  3. Words with two, three, or four letters are worth one point. Words with five letters are worth two points, those with six letters are worth three points, and so on.
  4. Set the timer for three minutes and see who can come up with the most words! If there is any doubt about a particular word, check the dictionary to see if it really exists. You might stumble upon some surprises along the way, so be sure to read the definition of ones that your child is unfamiliar with.
