Topics: Preschool, Kindergarten, Arts and Crafts
Looking for a dazzling and unique art project? Here's one you've probably never done before: Paint Dough! It's a new twist on painting that will add a little sparkle to any art project. Use a few kitchen ingredients to create a paint paste that glitters when dry and is easy to use. This nifty paint works well for school posters or just a funky piece of art to hang on the wall!
What You Need:
- Flour
- Water
- Salt
- Liquid tempera paint
- Measuring cup
- Bowls
- Mixing spoons
- Poster board or matte board
- Plastic squeeze bottles
What You Do:
- Mix equal parts of flour, salt, and water in a mixing bowl to form a paste consistency. Mix larger quantities for more paint, but it's best to start with smaller quantities.
- Separate the mixture into several bowls. For each different color paint you want, use a different bowl.
- Add paint of the desired colors to each bowl and thoroughly mix it in.
- Pour colored each mixture into its own plastic squeeze bottle and secure the cap on. (Note: paint mixture can dry and harden in the squeeze bottles, so rinse the bottles clean after each use.)
- Squeeze the paint onto the poster board and make colorful designs and pictures.
- Set the finished painting aside to dry. Then hang it up in the house for all to see! The salt gives the designs a glistening crystal quality which makes the paintings appear more dazzling.
