Practice problem solving skills with your kindergarten or first grade student in this simple two-player game. Take turns connecting dots, while avoiding surrounding the snake picture. Use logic and critical thinking in order to successfully navigate the game board and win!

What You Need:

  • One Snakes and Dots game board (Print this out.)
  • 17 Popsicle sticks or tens rods or 2 pencils

What You Do:

  1. Decide who will start first. That player connects the dots across the starting line. You may connect dots with Popsicle sticks or tens rods or by drawing lines between them using a pencil.
  2. Take turns connecting dots. Dots may only be connected vertically and horizontally. A player must begin their connection where another connection ended. (In other words, all connections must be touching.)
  3. The first player to enclose the snake loses.

Variations:

  • Start the game at any location on the board.
  • Create your own larger grid to play on.
  • First player to enclose the snake wins!
