Washi Tape Patterns

Washi Tape Patterns Activity

See in slideshow:
10 Washi Tape Crafts

Turn your child into a designer by showing her how to use Washi tape to create a variety of patterns on gift cards! Patterns are anything that repeats, over and over. Patterns can be based on color, form, or even texture. Encourage your little one to experiment with different tape combinations and how the tape is applied. The finished cards make great gifts!

What You Need:

  • Variety of Washi tape
  • Construction paper
  • Scissors

What You Do:

  1. Ask your child to fold a sheet of construction paper in half vertically, so it's thin and tall.
  2. Have her cut the tall card into 2-3 equal sections, depending on how big she would like the final cards to be.
  3. For each card, encourage her to apply the tape in a different way. Perhaps one card is diagonal stripes, another is woven and the third is short tears with rough edges.
  4. When she's finished, encourage her to write a secret message in each card and give them to her loved ones!
