What we like best:
What you should know:
The eagle has landed! Journey to the moon in this interactive storybook that tells the true story of the Apollo 11 space mission. Kids can ride along with Buzz, Neil and Mike as they become the first beanbags on the moon!
Apollo 11 was created to celebrate the moon-landing anniversary and it tells the tale as it happened, substituting three bubbly bean bag kids for the original astronauts. Little learners must successfully tackle challenges to move along in the story, keeping them engaged in this true-to-life tale. Houston “control center” and the “notepad” section help children progress with hints, explanations, diagrams and blueprints. Space science facts like the mechanics of orbit and the principles of gravity are scattered throughout. The story is historically accurate—mostly—but there are some adorable additions to the record. The text in some of the sections is too advanced for first graders, but the games are really too simple for an older child.
Still, the combination of fun non-fiction, engaging storytelling, interactive games and great graphics make this a great app for parents and kids to explore space science—including a piece of American history—together!
