What we like best:
What you should know:
Combining bright colors, adorable animal graphics and number sense, Let’s Count Animals has the basic foundation for a solid preschool learning tool.
This colorful counting app is designed to teach tots number basics. Each screen has a big bright number and corresponding amount of animals for kids to count. Little ones will recognize the familiar Laugh and Learn animals, because the animation reflects the trademark design of the classic play sets. Tots can tilt the screen to slide the animals from side to side, or tap to start the counting process. There’s no swipe to move on, however, requiring little fingers to press a small arrow at the side of the screen to progress in the game. Two silly songs play between the counting, without offering an option to skip them, which can become tiresome.
While the app will catch the attention of the little ones, without much to tap or explore, it might not hold it as long as it could. Note: though this app is targeted specifically for babies six-months and up, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no screen time for children under the age of 2.
