School Rankings Now Available through Education.com

Friday, July 9th, 2010 by jritchie

We’re excited to announce Education.com TestRatings, a new addition to the reliable local school data provided in SchoolFinder.  The TestRating feature is a school rating system that ranks public schools within their state according to their performance on state-wide standardized tests. A school’s TestRating is a percentile ranking (1-10), 10 is the highest score and 1 is the lowest. A TestRating of 10 means that a school’s test scores are higher than 90% of the schools in that state.

The TestRating is updated as new testing results are released by each state’s Department of Education. Every school’s TestRating includes an explanation of the specific tests and subjects used to calculate its TestRating.

Education.com acknowledges that TestRatings are not a judgment of the overall quality of the school, as they do not take into account other factors important to a school’s success such as teacher qualifications, leadership and parent involvement. These factors should also be considered when comparing schools and parent reviews found in SchoolFinder.

The TestRatings are another way that Education.com is seeking to help parents and educators enhance their understanding of their local schools. We look forward to continue being an innovator in the space of education. Let us know your thoughts and suggestions about our most recent enhancement and follow us on Twitter @schoolfinder for the latest and greatest updates.
