Hi Bridgette,

Your best bet is to visit your doctor, nutritionist and perhaps a sports nutritionist if one is available in your area. Weight gain needs to be monitored and done properly to ensure that your son does it safely while keeping an eye on his health.

Well 23+ lbs is a lot to gain, but if he has time then it can be done. High school football doesn't begin till August correct? So I think he has enough time to reach that goal.

A personal trainer would help. Let us know how it turns out.

I think it is also important that you help your son keep a positive body image, and to be happy with whatever height and weight he is. Football isn't everything, and its not worth damaging his health for.
