Summer Enrichment

Summer Enrichment

Some parents have an issue with their kids doing anything related to school in the summer - "Kids need time to be kids." That's true, but the reality is that it's a long summer and kids have a great deal of time to be kids. The best thing my wife and I have found to enrich our son's summer, as it relates to helping him in school and his future, is SuperCamp. SuperCamp is a learning and life skills "academic summer camp." When my son found out he was going last summer, he wasn't thrilled - 10 days at an academic camp was not his idea of a good time. To his shock and amazement, he loved it. He loved the instructors, who are engaging and entertaining. He loved the outdoor challenges and the indoor activities. He even loved the sessions spent on learning skills like speed reading, creative writing and problem solving. Bottom line, he's a better student this year, he's happier, we get along better and he takes more responsibility for managing his time. The website is www.SuperCamp.com. The camps are held on college campuses and the kids live in the dorms for the 10 days. There are programs for middle school kids, high school kids, kids going into college and younger ones, as well.

Hi Jim,
How old are your kids? I'm finding it tough to find a good camp for my son, who is about to enter kidnergarten. At what age did your kids start?
