My 14 year old son seems to sleep all of the time.  How normal is this?

Hi Kimison,

It might actually be okay, but you know, I think just for your peace of mind it might be a good idea to just take him for a quick checkup with your family doctor. Since he's a growing boy, it could just be normal growth and activity tiring him out, or who knows.  Really, it's best just to go see your doctor.

i think that any one who is tired the teacher needs to put water on his/her face because he/she could be missing some educational stuff so thats why she needs to put water on his or her face to wake them up.:)

Teens experience a change in circadian rhythm or the hours of sleep as puberty advances.  They need about 10-9 hours a night but their body tells them to sleep later and stay up later.  However, we live by daylight and schools have not changed start times in a century. Therfore, try to get him to transition to bed (not tv, mp3 etc.) and get the required sleep to function better in the day and avoid naps.

Hi kimison.
My sister was doing the very same thing and my mom was also concerned and when she was brought to the doctors they said it was because she was a normal teenager and was told to take Iron it turned out she was anemic and had to spend a few days in hostipal and was adsolutley fine after that. So i think u should bring him to doctors office and have him send your son for a blood test. I wish you all the best and your son.
