you are called by a local school to conducta study about their new teaching methodology. they have 567 enrolled students in 5th grade. they claim that their results seem to have improved tremendously after introduction of the new teachoing methodology. the course is designed by the teachers themselves. they show u the preliminary results of a study done by a math's teacher showing 40% improvement in previous results

Hi Tulips,
As an educator I would be highly interested to know what the "new teaching mythology" entails. The results you state are unheard of in the public school system for any grade. That said, the method must be tested further for lasting and consistent results to be recorded. I am impressed but not convinced. I would also like to know what your findings were.

Me too! I'd like to know what new methods were used. The only thing that does make me think that this scenario could be possible is that the teachers designed the program. I believe that teachers who collaborate and design curriculum and have the freedom to choose their methods are more successful than teachers who simply use curriculum and methods imposed from on high.  Michael Bentley, EdD
