Alternative Certification

Alternative Certification, allowed by the No Child Left Behind act, provides teachers who do not have a college degree in education or state certification an alternative path to teaching. Traditionally, teachers are required to have both a college degree in education and a state certification before they can teach. No Child Let Behind encourages states to introduce alternative methods of qualification for talented individuals to teach subjects they know.
