Magnet Program

A magnet program is a broad term used to describe the curriculum, instructional methodology, and school-centered activities that characterize and support the distinguishing theme or focus of a magnet school. For example, a magnet school may focus in the sciences; another magnet school may have literature and theater themes. Magnet schools/programs are open to students outside the normal school district boundaries (to offset segregation) but offer rigorous, yet competitive, programs to attract high caliber students.
