Some signs your child is engaging in pathological use of video games include:
- Skipping household chores to play video games
- Skipping homework to play video games
- Playing video games as a way to escape from reality
- Performing poorly on tests due to time devoted to playing
- Less face-to-face time with family and friends in favor of spending time playing
- Abandonment of hobbies, sports, and other activities in favor of spending time playing
