What if your third grader could write and publish his very own hardcover book? And what if he had John Lithgow as a writing coach? This software puts your kid in the author's seat and lets him create multiple personalized versions of four quirky story lines. Once kids pick a plot, Lithgow acts as muse, giving helpful hints about choosing character names, and interesting anecdotes about authors like Mark Twain. When the book is complete, authors can print it out on their own, or order a bound copy online. Although we wish this software let kids write longer passages, rather than fill in boxes with words or phrases, it's still an engaging tool sure to get kids' creative juices flowing. And listening to Lithgow's writing advice is just plain fun. (Knowledge Adventure, $19.99 for software, bound books cost an additional $9.99+)
