Reviewed for Third Grade, 2007

You'll find ten experiments in this colorful box--a happy medium between one-off boxed experiments and huge sets with impenetrable compound arrays. Kids learn about chemistry fundamentals such as acids and bases, by using safe, nontoxic ingredients that you can let them handle without worrying about sink explosions or emergency calls to Poison Control. We would have loved to see snappier graphics in the manual, but our young experimenters had no complaints. They were able to follow its clear directions with minimal adult help and with great pride in an interesting job well done. All in all, we highly recommend this engaging set. Although the box advertises this kit for ages 4 and up, "with an adult helper," it's much better for a third grader, who can read the directions independently and make full use of this very appealing chemistry set.
