This book is a slam dunk for historical fiction lovers, or anyone interested in the mystery of Cleopatra (which is everyone since the Fall of Ptolemy). Much is written about the passion, beauty, and intelligence of Cleopatra, but what of her only daughter, Cleopatra Selene, who was only a girl when she was orphaned and sent to Rome. This novel presents a fascinating imagining of ancient history, and one girl’s will to survive. (Arthur A Levine Books, $11.86)
