Pick Up Sticks
By Melissa and Doug
Reviewed for Third Grade, 2009
Forget the plastic pickup sticks! You can get this set of pure wood beauties for under ten bucks. First invented by the native Americans, who played the game with straws of wheat and taught it to the pioneers, pickup sticks are as fun to play now as they were then. The game works hand-eye coordination, small muscle control, and concentration, plus it's a pleasure to play. Instructions included, for grownups a little hazy on the rules. (Melissa and Doug, $9.49)
