Lego Creator Cool Convertible

While many toy companies can churn out one hit wonders, Lego is an exception that keeps on delivering, year after year. Why the success? For starters (and don't tell the kids), these construction kits provide tons of academic benefits because they contain the ingredients to build fine motor skills, develop focus, and sharpen mastery of complex, sequenced directions.  But educational aspects aside, they're just plain fun! Kids will jump at the Lego Creator Cool Convertible, which can be rebuilt, using the two extra instruction books included, into a hefty truck or miniloader with a moving platform. With quite a few intricate joints and gizmos, this toy will go over best with ten-year-olds, who can manage it independently. (Lego, $49.99)
