Puzzibits Super Safari Set

Each of these 450 interlocking pieces consists of pegs and loops which can be used to connect it to others, but you'll need a firm hand to bend the flexible pieces into place. Kids go on a design safari, building three different animal creations: a lion, zebra, and 2D lion face pattern. The challenge is fun, and surprisingly addictive—plus, playing with this toy helps develop mathematical thinking through pattern recognition and spacial awareness. We also love the 1,250 piece "megamix" set, for more free-form play, once kids get the hang of puzzibits. (Manhattan Toy, $17.99)
