A few words about me...
Although I'm male and nearly 50 I'm the teacher who will wear a "little black dress" to work and challenge the kids to fill up food hampers for families in need. On the hot days of June I'll wear my winter outdoor clothes on yard duty so the kids get the idea that it's "really not that hot outside". When it's well below freezing on a February day I'll greet the kids getting off the busses in shorts and a t-shirt. I guess that it's just important to make school an enjoyable experience.
But on those days off during the summer you might see me in Virginia, New York, or Ohio living my passion as a Civil War re-enactor. Early in the morning I'll blow the reveille to get the boys up and out. Later I'll make a nice pot of "artificial oysters" for the rest of the boys of Company "C", 10th Lousianna Infantry. Then we'll march off to participate in some wonderful living history at national sites south of Canada.
When I'm home with my wonderful wife and two teenage kids the 105 year=old house gets renovated and restored. Although the work never seems to get done quite right but I learn as I go and usually have to do every job two or three times before i get it right.
I can retire in seven years, but really see no end in sight to this great job: teaching.
My other interests include, education issues, reading, classical music, travelling ( especially in the U.S.), old ( really old) movies, poetry, history, UTUBE.
no matter who I talk to I can always learn something new.
