A true Northern Californian, Dr. Heyman grew up in San Francisco, enjoys skiing, hiking and biking and the general outdoors, and is committed to caring for children with intestinal problems and training the next generation of pediatricians and pediatric gastroenterologists.  He has been active in national and regional organizations involved in improving the health and well-being of infants, children and adolescents, including advocating on their behalf.
