A few words about me...

Michael P. Mueller is an assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics and Science Education at the University of Georgia. He completed his Ph.D. in Science Education and Philosophy of Education in the Cultural Studies Program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He has several forthcoming book chapters and published philosophy papers in Cultural Studies of Science Education, Educational Studies, Journal of Environmental Education, Science & Education, Science Education, Science Teacher, Tennessee Association of Middle Schools Journal, The World of Science Education: Handbook of Research in North America, and the 2nd International Handbook of Science Education which analyze how privileged cultural thinking patterns frame our relationships with ‘others’ and with the Earth’s diverse geographies. His research interests include ecoeducational theory to guide ecojustice, citizen science, ecological schools, teacher preparation, and youth activism. In particular, he is developing a theoretical framework for teacher preparation using citizen science methods in a Methods of Science Teaching course. His work with science teachers emphasizes that we ought to share some of the responsibility for cultural diversity, biodiversity, natural habitats, and nature’s harmony. He is married and has two sons, Riley (6) and Noah (2).
