A few words about me...

Dr. Maria N. Trejo works as an Administrator for the California Department of Education, overseeing the services of family literacy projects and providing technical assistance in curriculum, evaluation, implementation of laws, and state and federal budgets. Maria has directed teacher recruitment, training, and partnerships program with community colleges, universities, school districts and county offices of education. She has been involved in the development of state curriculum standards for both preschoolers and Kindergarten to grade twelve. Her many assignments have included organizing professional development institutes for Preschoolers to university staff, with special emphasis on linguistic and culturally diverse student and adult populations. She has a unique expertise with the development and organization of grant development and awards processes. She has assisted the United States Department of Education to review and rank applications for various offices.

Maria has also done professional development training, presented at major conferences in various states and in other countries on the educational needs of immigrants and international students. She has arranged international events and exchanges for teachers and administrators. Her special interests are international education, travel, community service, music and golf. Dr. Trejo has been on the board of directors’ for numerous state and local boards and committees such as United Way, Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Mexican Cultural Center, International Migrant Education Council, and Binational Education Steering Committee, California Exposition State Fair, Sacramento State University Alumni Association Board.
