A few words about me...

Born in California and raised in northern New Jersey, I consider myself an 'open-minded Jersey Girl'. And yes, I loved Bon Jovi when he had big hair. My first job out of college was as a publicist for Putnam Berkley Publishing (now Penguin Group). I then moved out to the Bay Area with my husband and over the next decade (almost) held positions as advertising copywriter, Marcom Manager, and Director of Marketing in industries including banking, mobile computing, networking and Internet security. I did the startup thing when you could make a million dollars selling socks online, but couldn't seem to grab a piece of that action - even with all the great socks I had. So, in 2003, I took a break from that rat-race to start my own rugrat-race at home. I now have 2 boys, ages 8 and 6 who run the house, I mean, run through the house. I understand that it takes every last bit of patience and energy -  and then some - to raise children. But I also know that I wouldn't trade the experience (or my kids) for anything.

I'm a children's book author and my first children's book, SHOES FOR ME!, is available now from Marshall Cavendish Children's Books. I have two books coming out in 2012, A Dress for Me! and Tons of Trucks! You can read more about all of that at my web site: www.suefliess.com.

In addition to writing for children, I write for several small start-ups in Silicon Valley, and am currently a copywriter for eBay. My articles have appeared in Writer's Digest, Travelmuse.com and Bay Area Parent. In my spare time(!) I like to travel with my family, run a writing critique group, occasionally train for running events and play in a local tennis league.
