Sometimes it seems like school assignments make no sense doesn't it? You'd think the people who live closest to the school would be assigned to it, but it doesn't always work that way.
Sometimes school districts allow for inter-district transfers (which allow students to attend a different school than they're assigned to based on their home address). It's worth calling the school district office to see if this is an option for you.
