This edition is from 1976, and I am wondering
1. If this will make it outdated enough that it is not worth my time to read it
2. How well-known and respected is the author (Roger Keesing) and/or this particular book? (On Wikepedia it is referred to as "regarded as one of the most authoritative general introductory works on the subject."  
So yeah. Your thoughts?
