mlb1980.jsb asks:

how to help my child stay focused in school

My daughter is 7 years old and in second grade.  I met with her teacher today and she is concerned because she is not completing her work.  It's not that she is not capable of doing the work or doesn't know how to do it but that she is easily distracted.  She will play with her pencil or a piece of paper, whatever she can.  The teacher has tried taking away recess to finish the work and give her extra time.  Nothing seems to work.  I don't understand because she doesn't do these things at home.  When we get home she has to do her homework before she can do anything else and she gets it done.  Sometimes I have to remind her but I don't stand over her shoulder.  I don't think she has ADD or ADHD because she can focus on things easily at home.  She is an only child and isn't around kids at home or when she is its play time.  Does anyone have any ideas at what I can do to help?
