loopy_lou asks:

is this classed as assault

my mothers partner of 30+ years played a part in my her trying to take her own life, both their names are on the tenancy agreement and she has paid this months rent. while she was in the hospital both my mother and the landlady had given us permission to go back into the home and collect anything she needed, he even gave us a key. we went back a few times to get medical stuff, she has a bag on as she has her bowel removed and on one of the trips back he was drunk and started shouting and calling my mum names I shouted back and he asked us to leave while he did so he put his hands on my son and tried to push him out the door  then he then called the police .I waited for the police and told them what happened the police man mentioned assault, he was told not to touch any of my mums stuff and not to throw any of it out which he did all her medical stuff he left it outside the front door and is now refusing to give us any of her personal stuff so we will have to go see a solicitor, the question is ,is what he done to my son assault and as it happened 3days ago is there a time limit as to when I can have him charged I forgot to mention my son is 16 years old
