What the Expert Says:

What you, and your daughter, are going through has to be very difficult and scary.  Do not be afraid to have the conversation with your daughter about what is going on and how she is feeling.  It is important that you ask her why she is cutting herself.  Is she doing this to end her life or is she doing this to stop pain she is feeling?  Whatever the reason, it will be important to get her some professional help from a Psychiatrist and/or Psychologist.  Doing this can help in gaining a better understanding of why she is engaging in this very addictive and dangerous behavior.  It will also provide an opportunity for your daughter to find other healthy coping skills she can utilize to deal with the pain she is obviously experiencing.  If at anytime your daughter tells you she cuts to end her life it will be important that you take her to the nearest Hospital for immediate assistance.  You may also want to consider talking with your daughter's Pediatrician or Doctor since he or she can evaluate your daughter and provide referrals to local resources in your area.  Hang in there and know there is help available.

Try to get her to talk to you about it. Don't yell or shout or anything like that. She may be going through a lot of stress. Ask her if anything is going on at school and also don't let her wear a lot of bracelets or long sleeves around because that usually means there is a cut that is being hidden. Check her wrists for fresh cuts and take good care of the ones she already has.

I hope this helps! I know this has to be really scary for you, it was really scary for my mom when she foun out I cut.
