How should I deal with my Aspergers nephew trying to kiss and touch my daughter in areas that are not acceptable?

My nephew is nine and has AS. He has tried twice to kiss and touch my daughter in areas that are not acceptable. My husband is having a hard time dealing with this b/c it is his little girl and he believes that the my nephew should be punished for doing this. My nephew repeatedly lied that he did not do this and then finally admitted to it. He did not receive any punishment for what he had done.
Please help me figure out the the correct way to deal with this issue.
We are now now speaking with the family b/c of this and I don't want to lose my sister or my husband.

I am sorry to hear that this happened to your daughter. How old is she? Have you talked to her about what happened? It is important for her to understand that what he did is wrong, but be careful not to imply that he is a bad person. You also want to talk to your daughter about what she should do if she ever is uncomfortable with someone again.
It is understandable that you and your husband are upset that this occurred. While it is difficult, keeping your distance from the family may be the right move for now. Your emotions regarding the situation may decrease somewhat over time which can eventually make it easier to be around them again. They may be unsure of how to deal with their son, but as parents their response to his behavior is their choice. Just know that when you do choose to spend time together with them again, to make sure that the kids are not alone together. Your number one priority is your daughter!
