Q:

How can I discipline my one year old??

My 19 month old will not listen to me. He has been this way since he started walking at 8 months & has got progressively worse. When I tell him no he smiles at me & does it again then I put him in time out & he screams the whole time but when time out is over he runs to do the same thing again. He hits everyone & throws whatever he can at everyone including his 2 month old sister. He throws himself on the ground & will hit his head on things so hard I don't know how he can stand it. I dont know what to do anymore & hes not even 2 I need advice

I do think you need to put him somewhere where he can't get out, But probably make it soft so he won't get hurt, Probably a crib? But having him act this way you need to say "(Name of the child) You need to stop acting this way! It hurts other people" And when he hits his head on the floor, You should say "Stop" and put him somewhere soft like a crib (Like I had said earlier) And when he screams in timeout, You need to probably put him somewhere else, or tell him "Stop screaming (Name of the child)!"

But if none of this works, You're going to need to actually give strict discipline, Like a 20 minute timeout and discuss to him what he's doing, and what might happen, If he's throwing his sister you should say "That can really hurt your sister!! Stop it right now (name of the child)!!" If you need anymore help, just ask.
