I've heard that children under 10 years old need two doses of the H1N1 vaccine spread one month apart. Does anybody know for sure? Also, how long does it take for the vaccine to be effective? I am flying with my 1 1/2 year old and want to know if she will be protected. Thanks much!

Dear Mika:

The one month separation is for two Flumists which are live viruses. You can receive two injectable killed vaccines for flu at the same time. Yes, under ten years old requires two doses. It takes about 10-14 days according to the manufacturer to be affective.
