Is there a list of school rankings for special needs education and where can I find it?

My son has down syndrome. We moved from a state with a wonderful program to a state that I am told is 47th in the nation for special needs education. Is there a list of the states ranks for special education? And if so, where can I find it? We are talking of moving and I would like to go to a state that has a better understanding of special education then the one we currently live in. Any help would be appreciated.

I imagine it must be very disconcerting to move from a state with a great resources to a state that may not have the same opportunities for your son.

I checked with the National Down Syndrome Society - http://www.ndss.org/ - and they referred me to the United Cerebral Palsy national site. They produce an annual report called "The Case for Inclusion" which ranks all 50 States and the District of Columbia on how well they are providing community-based supports to Americans with intellectual and developmental disabilities being served by Medicaid. I'm not certain if your son is on Medicaid, but I imagine that this report will provide a pretty good estimate of the quality of resources by state. It can be found at http://www.ucp.org/medicaid/.
