Q:

Can people with neurological conditions safely take the H1N1 vaccine?

My son has Norrie's Disease and partial seizures.  I have read that those with neurological problems should consult their doctor before getting the flu vaccine.  Is it safe for him have the H1N1 vaccine?

What the Expert Says:

Of course, consult with your doctor.  The vaccine was meant to protect children with various conditions which is why there is a nasal mist and an injection.  Does the benefit of the vaccine outweigh the risk of disease to your son?  Confer with his pediatrician or neurologist.
