Sometimes when people are mean we react back in mean way. To stop yourself from doing this take a few minutes to step back and be rational. Take a deep breath. Many times walking away is the best way to stop yourself from reacting too quickly.
Coping with how people make you feel is different for everybody. Finding healthy coping skills can make all the difference in how you feel. Listening to music, drawing, exercising, talking with a friend or doing some creative writing are great ways to distract yourself and let your emotions out. Find one that works for you.
