Well you can help him by trying to lure him. You can say to your son, '' If you finish your writing and reading homework, you can have an ice cream bar, or maybe candy, or watch your favorite t.v. show.''
Read aloud to him every day from something he enjoys. Try different books but you do the reading. 4 1/2 is still young to read and write.
Will he fingerpaint? Do fingerprinting together at home for fun- that will build his fine motor skills. Will he hold a paint brush? Let him paint pictures if he will. Have him play with play dough. You can make alphabet letters with the play dough.
Oh my god! Of course is not interested in it! Can you imagine yourself at age of 4, 5 interested in anything like studying. Surely not, that is why I do not think this is a problem just yet. He is still a baby who would rather do some activities, play outdoor games and so on. Even though writing and reading are both very important, you should give it some time!
Hello! I think your sun is lively child. He is a real boy! He loves to run, jump. And it's really cool. He is sports. You should be proud of him. Do not be worry, be interested in his games. And he will like yours. That will see!

Boys this age would rather be outside doing things. Adding letters to play can be challenging but fun! If he is a super hero today, help him write the first letter of the super hero's name on a sign to safely pin to his shirt. If he is interested in planes, help him write the first letter of cities on a piece of paper and place them around the yard or house to "fly" to. Practice letters with playdough, finger paint, sand, etc. rather than a pencil. Have fun with your son! Check out Alphabet Soup: Stirring Your Child's Interest in Letters for more ideas.
