Q:

My son was tested at the age of 7.11 months and recieved a full scale score of 53 (non verbal IQ 52 and verbal IQ 58.

My son has austism and tested with a full scale score of 53.  He has an ABA teacher and attends school year round since the age of 3.  He was 100% non-verbal until the age of 4 but can now speak sentences.  I am not sure based upon my reading if he should also be classified as mentally retarded.  What chances are there for him to learn to read, write and do math?  Those were the questions that I asked the school to focus in with for my son.  Any help would be appreciated.
