Should I start my child in preschool earlier or later?
My child is 4 1/2 and in his first year of preschool. His birthday is July 2nd. His preschool teacher recommends he not start kindergarten this year, but wait until he turns 6. I say he needs to go because he can do it and having him start later will not make a difference after a few years anyway.

It's really up to you as to how you proceed. The concern of teachers is often that your child will be too small and will be slower to learn than the other kids. I would talk to the school counselor and get another opinion. I agree that eventually the age difference will be meaningless, however, the question is what can happen when the difference is still meaningful?
