What the Expert Says:

Hello and thank you for writing to JustAsk,

Children with autism sometimes associate better to stories with photography of familiar people or places vs. those that are arbitrary.  Also, stories may need to have fewer sentences and complex dynamics.  Simple sentence structure may be necessary, as well.

For examples you may wish to visit these websites:

Personal Child Stories
http://www.PersonalChildStories.com  (made to order stories with lamination so that they endure the wear and tear of young children)

The Friendship Puzzle
