Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program
This program offers a competition for awards for study abroad. Students who are U.S. citizens and who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding at a 2-year or 4-year college or university are eligible.

FinAid.orghas a comprehensive annotated collection of information about student financial aid on the web. Access to FinAid is free for all users and there is no charge to link to the site. It's a good first stop on the Web for students looking for ways to finance their education.

Freeman Asia Awards for Study in Asia
Only about 5% of study abroad students go to East and Southeast Asia, with the majority going to Japan or China. Yet, there are over a hundred programs to choose from in East and Southeast Asia. The Freeman Awards for study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA) are intended to help fill this gap.

Rotary Foundation
Ambassadorial Scholarships provide funding for study in any country with active Rotary clubs (only about 30 countries do not have active clubs). Open to both international and U.S. students who have completed at least two years of college education. Rotarians, their close relatives, and Rotary International employees are not eligible for these awards.

Thomas J. Watson Fellowship Program
is highly exclusive, available only to seniors at 50 colleges and universities across the country. If you happen to be at one of these institutions, the Watson Fellowship offers some unique opportunities. Students design their own program and can opt to study a regional issue or stay within one country.

Fulbright Student Program (for graduate study and research abroad)
The United States Department of State is the principal administrator of the Fulbright Program worldwide. The Institute of International Education (IIE) assists the Department of State in the conduct of the program at both predoctoral and postdoctoral levels.

Social Science Research Council (SSRC)posts information on fellowship and grant programs sponsored by the SSRC either independently or with other organizations. These programs provide predissertation and dissertation fellowships, postdoctoral fellowships, and advanced research grants in both the social sciences and humanities. Some programs also provide support for natural scientists and non-academic professionals.

Harvard College "Guide to Grants"
Find out about this handy guide, which is not available on the web. "Significantly expanded and updated, this handbook describes over 275 national and regional grants and fellowships according to the types of experience they support. Written specifically for college students and recent graduates, the Guide to Grants includes an introduction on grantsmanship, which answers common questions about the application process, and a section each on grants for study in the U.S., study abroad, and work and practical experience (including public service)."

Cornell Graduate School Fellowship Database includes many study abroad opportunities on their list of grants.

The East Asia and Pacific Summer Institutes Program (EAPSI)provides U.S. graduate students in science, engineering, education, social, behavioral and economic sciences the opportunity to conduct research while establishing collaborative relationships in Asia and Australia during 8 weeks in the summer. The EAPSI program package consists of a $3,000 stipend from NSF and a round trip air ticket. Sponsoring organizations in Asia and Australia will support living expenses.
