In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), LeapFrog Enterprises Inc., of Emeryville, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 3,700 My Pal Scout Electronic Plush Toy Dogs. The decals on the paws of the plush toy can be removed and ingested by a child, posing a choking hazard.
- Sevca LLC Recalls Sevylor® Tow Behinds; Quick Hitch Connectors Break, Posing Serious Hazard to Users
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Sevca, LLC of Wichita, KS, is voluntarily recalling about 94,000 Sevylor® Tow Behinds with Quick Hitch Connectors. The Quick Hitch, which connects the towable to the boat, can break and project pieces of the plastic Quick Hitch back towards the boat. If this occurs, an individual can be struck and seriously injured.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Foamorder.com, of San Francisco, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 140 Natural Sense Foam Blocks with Cotton Cover (Mattresses). The foam blocks with cotton covers (intended to be used as mattresses) fail to meet the mandatory federal open flame standard for mattresses, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries Inc., of Medina, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 4,700 2009 Model Year Polaris All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). The valve assembly can fail in freezing temperatures, causing oil to leak into the exhaust system. This could pose a fire and burn hazard to the rider.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Stamina Products Inc. of Springfield, Mo., is voluntarily recalling about 11,000 Elliptical Cross Trainers. Stamina modified the warning/assembly instructions in the owner’s manuals to emphasize that the elliptical pedal shafts must be securely tightened to the cranks. If not securely tightened, the pedal shafts could become loose from the cranks, which could result in serious injury to the user and/or damage to the product.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Fiesta Gas Grills, of Dickson, Tenn., is voluntarily recalling about 88,000 Blue Ember Gas Grills units in the United States (and 25,000 in Canada). The hose of the gas tank can get too close to the firebox and be exposed to heat, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), OJ Electronics, of Chicago, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 30,000 208-Volt and 240-Volt Thermostats. The recalled thermostat’s floor sensor or its cable can be damaged from cutting, drilling, or nailing. This poses a risk of electric shock to consumers if the power supply is not disconnected.
In cooperation withthe U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Brown Shoe Co. Inc., of St. Louis, Mo. and its affiliate Pagoda International Footwear Ltd., of Hong Kong., are voluntarily recalling about 1.4 million Buster Brown & Co.’s Clog Children’s Shoes (73,000 pair of shoes were previously recalled in April 2009). The shoe has decorative wheels that can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Thane International Inc., of La Quinta, Calif., are voluntarily recalling about 48,000 Orbitrek Elite and Orbitrek Elite Magnetic Elliptical Exercise Gliders. The written instructions incorrectly identify the proper location of the spring washer. An incorrectly installed spring washer can put undue stress on bolts, causing them to loosen, which poses a fall hazard to consumers.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), LEGO Systems Inc., of Enfield, Conn., are voluntarily recalling about 1,600 Power Functions IR Remote Controls. The batteries in the remote controls can overheat, posing a burn hazard to consumers.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced today that Haier America Trading LLC, of New York City, has agreed to pay a civil penalty of $587,500 to settle allegations that the appliance manufacturer failed to inform CPSC of a defect and fire hazard in the company’s Oscillating Tower Fan, model FTM140GG.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Thane International, Inc., of La Quinta, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 580,000 H2O Mop Steam Cleaners. The power cord can unexpectedly wear down and expose the wiring, posing a shock and burn hazard to consumers.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), EMH Associates Inc., of New York, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 4,400 Hooded jackets. The jackets have a drawstring around the waist which can pose an entrapment hazard to children.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Chandra Rugs, of Adairsville, Ga., is voluntarily recalling about 400 Art Collection Leather Shag Rugs. The rugs fail to meet federal flammability standard, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hobby Lobby Stores, of Oklahoma City, Okla., is voluntarily recalling about 500 Leather Butterfly Chairs. The chair legs can detach unexpectedly causing the chair to collapse, posing a fall hazard to consumers.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Evenflo Co. Inc., of Miamisburg, Ohio, is voluntarily recalling about 25,000 Evenflo Switch-A-Roo Telephone Toys. A mirror decal attached to the toy can peel away, posing a potential choking hazard.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Propac Distributing Corp., of Gardena, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 7,000 Youth Hooded Sweatshirts. The sweatshirts have a drawstring through the hood which can pose a strangulation hazard to children.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada (HC), Rossignol Ski Co., of Park City, Utah, is voluntarily recalling about 3000 pairs (in the United States) and 1,000 pairs (in CanadaHard) of Rossignol Cross-Country Boots. The boot’s sole could separate from the upper boot during use, posing a fall hazard to consumers.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Energizer, of St. Louis, Mo., is voluntarily recalling about 3000 Energizer Light On Demand Wallplate Nightlights. The nightlight can overheat, especially if additional devices are plugged into its outlets, posing a fire hazard.
Inez Moore Tenenbaum has been sworn in as the ninth Chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). President Barack Obama nominated Ms. Tenenbaum on June 9, 2009, she was confirmed by the Senate on June 19, 2009, and was officially sworn in on June 23, 2009 to a term that expires in October 2013. “I am honored to have been nominated by the President to lead CPSC and plan to be a consumer advocate for families across the United States,” said Chairman Tenenbaum. “My life’s work has been to improve the quality of life for children and it will continue to be my highest priority at CPSC.”
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hard Tail, of Santa Monica, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 130 Hard Tail girl’s hooded jackets and pullover sweatshirts. The hooded sweatshirts have a drawstring through the hood which can pose a strangulation hazard to children.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), C-Mrk Inc., of Vernon, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 725 Boys’ Hooded Sweatshirts. The jackets and pullovers have a drawstring through the hood or waist which can pose a strangulation hazard to children.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Wilton Industries Inc., of Woodridge, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 142,000 Copco Harmony Tea Kettles. The lid on the tea kettle can come loose during handling, posing a burn hazard to the consumer.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada (HC), American Greetings Corp., of Cleveland, Ohio, is voluntarily recalling about 90,000 (in the United States) and 1,900 (in Canada) packages of DesignWare Sport Balls. The surface coating on the basketball contains excessive levels of lead, in violation of the federal lead paint standard.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Walter Kidde Portable Equipment Inc., of Mebane, N.C., is voluntarily recalling about 94,000 Kidde Model PI2000 Dual Sensor Smoke Alarms. An electrostatic discharge can damage the unit, causing it not to warn consumers of a fire.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bosch Thermotechnology, of Londonderry, N.H., is voluntarily recalling about 90 Gas-Fired Wall-Hung Boilers. An electrical connector can overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Kolcraft Enterprises Inc. of Chicago, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 1 million Kolcraft, Carter’s, Sesame Street, Jeep, Contours, Care Bear and Eric Carle Play Yards. The play yard’s side rail can fail to latch properly and when a child pushes against the rail it can unlatch unexpectedly, posing a fall hazard to children.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Husqvarna Consumer Outdoor Products N.A. Inc., of Augusta, Ga., is voluntarily recalling about 8,200 Craftsman Lawn Tractors. The tractor’s parking brake can fail posing a loss of control hazard.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced today that nine children’s product manufacturers, importers and sellers have agreed to pay more than $500,000 in civil penalties for violating the federal lead paint ban. The penalties settle allegations that the firms knowingly manufactured, imported, or sold toys and other children’s articles with paint or other surface coatings that contained lead levels in violation of federal law. The settlements have been provisionally accepted by the Commission.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Charles David, of Culver City, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 3,200 pairs of Women’s Sample Shoes. The heel of the recalled shoes can detach, posing a fall hazard to consumers.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Gromex Inc., of Passaic, N.J., is voluntarily recalling about 700 Jaloma Pacifiers. The pacifier mouth guard and the ventilation holes are too small and fail to meet federal safety standards. The pacifier could pose a choking and aspiration hazard to young children.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), BioSensory, Inc., of Putnam, Conn., is voluntarily recalling about 70 Dragonfly II Mosquito Traps and 1500 NightWatch Bed Bug Monitors. Carbon dioxide (CO2) pressure sensors inside these products can crack and leak or burst causing the release of CO2. This could cause cracks with sharp edges that could cut a consumer’s hand, or direct CO2 discharge could cause a frostbite-like burn to a consumer’s hand.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Aqua-Leisure Industries, of Avon, Mass., is voluntarily recalling about 4 million Inflatable Baby Floats. The leg straps in the seat of the float can tear, causing children to unexpectedly fall into or under the water, posing a risk of drowning.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), retailers are voluntarily recalling about 400,000 Simplicity Drop Side Cribs. The crib’s plastic hardware can break or deform, causing the drop side to detach. When the drop side detaches, it creates space between the drop side and the crib mattress. Infants and toddlers can roll into this space and become entrapped which can lead to suffocation.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Intermatic Inc., of Spring Grove, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 240,000 Intermatic Model ST01 and EI600 In-wall Electronic Timers. When consumers trying to replace the timer’s battery place a metal object through the battery tray slot, the object can reach internal metal contacts, posing a shock hazard to consumers.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), LTD Commodities LLC; ABC Distributing of Bannockburn, Ill., and Lakeside Collection, all of Bannockburn, Ill., are voluntarily recalling about 25,800 Ionic Salt Lamps. The lamps overheat causing the vinyl coating on the cord to burst and melt, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries Inc., of Medina, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 800 2009 Polaris Assault model Snowmobiles. Bolts on the rear suspension can break causing the rail tip to become dislodged and interfere with the snowmobile’s track. This can cause the track to lock up and the rider to lose control of the snowmobile, posing a risk of injury.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), MarineTech Products Inc., of White Bear Lake, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 450 Tabletop Rope Cutters. The recalled rope cutters can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.
