bam0027 Parents today face a new challenge created by our modern lifestyle: finding enjoyable and effective ways to encourage fitness for kids. To make matters worse, kids are more sedentary than they’ve ever been, spending hours every day sitting in classrooms and in front of TV or computer screens. Cutbacks in school P.E. programs don’t help either.
Parents naturally expect and want their kids to be active, but sometimes exercise and kids don’t mix. It can be a struggle to keep kids physically active — or to get them interested in exercise at all. But promoting physical fitness for children is especially important now that one in five children are considered obese. Regular exercise helps control weight and can prevent diabetes and heart disease, which are associated with obesity. And exercise makes kids feel and learn better.
