Melissa C Girls typically progress through puberty before boys. Puberty begins in girls sometime between ages 8 and 13 (on average, at age 10.) For boys, puberty gets its start between 9 and 14 years (on average, at 11 1/2 years.) The table below describes the physical changes in girls and boys during puberty.
