State Programs: Grants and Loans

by Robert H. Miller
Source: John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
Topics: College Financial Aid, College Student Loans, College Scholarships

Every state administers a grant and loan program. To be eligible for these grants and loans, a student must typically be a resident of the state, and is often also required to attend an in-state school. Although most state grants are need based, some are merit based. The types of state loans available to help you fund your education vary from state to state. To research the grants and loans available in your state, check out your state's higher education Web site. You can find your state office's URL and phone number in the table here.
