Do Students Have to Value Everything They Learn?

The short answer is, “No, but it helps.” The research on values shows that valuing learning relates best to choice or motivation for continued learning. Students who value learning are apt to persist at tasks and take more courses in the subject area. Value also relates positively to choice of college major and career field.
